2024 ADA Guidelines

On December 11th, 2023, The American Diabetes Association (ADA) released the Standards of Care in Diabetes2024, a set of comprehensive and evidence-based guidelines for managing diabetes based on the latest scientific research and clinical trials.

Guidelines now recommend screening adult patients with diabetes for early signs of Stage B heart failure to facilitate prevention of progression to Stage C.

Updates to PAD screening guidelines were made to include screening of asymptomatic adults 50 and older with any microvascular disease, foot complications, or any end-organ damage to guide treatment for cardiovascular disease prevention and limb preservation. Additionally, individuals with diabetes duration of 10 years or more should be screened for PAD.
